Hi everyone, again I apologize for not having posted in a bit but I've just been so busy lately. The Parnate really seems to be the answer!! I've been on it for seven weeks now and my dose is currently 30mg/day. I also take 8mg Klonopin and just last week had 5mg Focalin QID added to my regimen. The Focalin is likely just a temporary thing while we're adjusting my dose of Parnate.
I have a bit of a problem, though. I've never had seasonal allergies in my life, but this year apparently I've developed them. Benadryl seems to work fine at keeping most symptoms at bay, but I can't think of anything to help with my congestion. I'm going to talk with my pdoc about this during our next appointment on Tuesday, but until then I thought I'd get some input from anyone I could on PB.
Now, obviously, pseudoephedrine and propylhexedrine are contraindicated while taking Parnate, but on the other hand, I do already take methylphenidate and seem none the worse for it. Do these OTC decongestants present more of a problem for those taking MAO inhibitors than methylphenidate does? I think I'll end up trying some Benadryl Allergy & Sinus before I go back to see my pdoc since I do have nifedipine on hand, just in case. The congestion hasn't been helped at all my oxymetazoline, which doesn't surprise me since stronger sympathomimetics were always necessary for me when it came to sinus problems.
Well, I look forward to any input, and I look forward to hearing how you all are doing as well! If anyone has any questions more specifically relating to my experience with Parnate, feel free to ask! :-)
~Michael
