By SSNRI do you mean a serotonin and Noradrenaline re-uptake inhibitor?
Remeron/Mirtazapine does not inhibit the re-uptake of Noradrenaline and Seratonin, instead it encourages the brain to release them (dont ask how).
It also has other effects including antagonising the type 3 Serotonin receptor.Its a powerful anti-histamine which makes it good for sleep, although tolerance does tend to build up to its sedative effects, at least in my experiences.
