generic vs. brand lithium ER's-different to you?

I have taken generic lithium ER's before and found that they don't seem to do a thing for me (side effect-wise or effectiveness). Lithobid and Eskalith CR are just the opposite-more side effects, but more effective. I take smallish doses as an AD add on and to dampen some hypomania. Anyone else have similar experiences w/ the different formulations?
