> Hi there,
> I am new to this site. I have a question about itchiness. I took 225mg of Effexor XR for almost a year and recently switched to Lexapro 20mg. Since switching, I am constantly itchy (no rash). My doctor tells me the itchiness is unrelated to the meds, but I am not convinced. Could it be withdrawal from the Effexor or start up of the Lex? Thanks for any help.HI,
I am doing and feeling the same exact thing. I've been taking effexor 300XR for 10 months, 2-3 months ago I decided to stop the effexor because it makes me apathetic. Cold turkey after 4 days was pretty much unbearable so I went back on while I planned a strategy. 1st week down to 225mg.- 2nd week, 150mg.- 3rd, 75mg.- 4th, 37mg.- last Sat., lexapro 10mg. I'm not going crazy or my brain isn't sloshing around and I'm not laughing and crying for no reason, all the weirdness and trippyness I had when I tried to stop last time has been avoided. But, I'm itchy, particularly on my shoulders, back, elbows, and shins. My extremities are numb, pins and needles numb. My libido is back with a vengance. And my dreams are pretty wacky. My take, it's effexor withdrawl, I recognize it from the last time I tryed to stop, but this time it's bearable. I've heard benadryl could help with these symtoms so that's my plan of action today. I will let you know by posting here next time I get a chance how benadryl works. I heard something about claratin also but I like benadryl.
I guess we shouldn't sweat it, it'll pass.
till later...
