Totally different mechanisms of action. The problem with DA agonists is that they tend to reduce DA release via autoreceptor stimulation (anyone ever try a DA agonist + amisulpride?). IMHO, mirapex in psychiatry is best looked at as a mood stabilizer with AD properties. It's also probably not half bad for the libido.
