Hi, I took Serzone (and a very low dose of Buspar) for three years for SA and it definitely worked moderately well. I got off of it due to long-term concerns about the liver, although my liver panels always came back normal.
Now I take 10 mg Lexapro in morning and 15 mg Remeron at night and this combo works a little better than the Serzone. I found that the dose of Remeron makes a huge difference for me. 30 or 45 mg is too much, but 15 with the Lexapro and I'm very calm. I have to watch my caffeine intake...if I only have three or four cups of coffee at work all day then I'm OK...any more than that and I go into panic mode.
Bottom line: Lexapro works for SA. The reason I use Remeron with it, is that I noticed that I had more post-event anxiety with Lexapro alone, and more pre-event anxiety with Remeron alone. Together and I feel like a new man completely!
Best Wishes
