How Does Provigil work for ADD?

I have a history of major depression and I've been on various antidepressants for the last 22 years. When I last saw my psychopharmacologist he suggested I start on Provigil because I'm so disorganized both at work and at home.

Does anyone know how/why Provigil is supposed to be useful for adult ADD?
