pretty_paints-

Do you need to have an EEG?
Its not scary. I had one last year. I have Tourettes, which is a neurological disorder, so I had an EEG to rule out any other problems and make sure it really was Tourettes.

They will glue a bunch of little electrode things to your head. This is mostly humiliating, not at all painful (the glue comes right off later). The wires are attached to a computer (or something).

The whole process is pretty long, which is annoying. I think they asked me to do some things, like move my arms or legs and stuff so they could make sure the computer was reading all of the parts of the brain that the wires are supposed to be connecting to. The only somewhat scary part was doing a "hyperventilation". I had to breath really deep and fast for a few minutes, which was wierd and I was a little afraid I might pass out, but the technician is right there with you the whole time and if you do feel sick or anything, you can just stop. Most of the time they just tell you to lay down and relax.

At the end, they peel all the electrodes off (which doesn't hurt) and you have a lot of sticky gunk in your hair, which is embarrasing if you have to go anywhere besides right home, but once you shower its all fine.

I hope that helped. You'll do fine. Good luck!
