I now take it all the phenelzine at night, which has greatly reduced the insomnia (Nardil has an acute sedative effect, at least in me), sexual dysfunction, and drowsiness. I am also happy to report that, now that I take phenelzine 90mg qhs instead of 22.5mg qid, the sexual/libido enhancing effects of the cabergoline are BACK, despite the buprenorphine 4mg qid! I am also feeling slightly anxious--probably from the cabergoline--but it is not even always noticeable. I also feel quite motivated an upbeat. Man, what a combo this is.
My only concern is whether or not the GABA-T and glutamic acid decarboxylase inhibition of the drug is irreversible. If it is not, then this once per day regime might not be as effective for anxiety as multiple doses. Anyone know about this? Also, does anyone know what pharmacological effects phenelzine has in addition to the enzyme inhibition? It definitely produces acute effects when I take it that are not related to enzyme inhibition in all probability. For instance, now that i switched to taking it all at night, the urinary retention during the day is much improved. What's that all about?
