I don't know specifics of this situation, but my impression is that the jury is still out on whether SSRI's should be discontinued during pregnancy. BUT, I wanted to write to have you urge her to get a 2nd opinion. This is too big of a decision to just rely on 1 doc. She should try to see if she can have an evaluation with a psychiatrist w/ some familiarity with women's health issues. Someone who can help her balance the benefits and risks of either decision. A regular OB/GYN might not have an adequate background in mental health issues to give the best advice.
Best,
EE> My best friend has been back on zoloft for about 2 months - she had depression after her first child BAD- she's on 50 mg and just found yesterday she's pregnant - AGAIN. She's so scared. The dr told her to stop taking the zoloft immediately. She's worried about what the side effects will be. Does anybody have any advice on this??? I'm currently on lexapro and haven't been on anything pregnant before so I don't know about the side effects...
