Actually its not really.
Is that the only medication your taking?..are you Bipolar?
In all honesty Its not an effective mood stabiliser (anti manic) at all. It is pretty good for anxiety though and used as an 'add on' med like its intended use for epilepsy...
>Question is, could it be I'm taking a bit much. 300mgs. 3 times a day.
You could try taking 600mg twice a day or even drop it down to 300mg a day. I take this medication for anixety that I have with bipolar as an add on to another medication. I've found that its not really the kind of medication you have to take the exact same dosage everyday. You can play around with it to suit your needs..how your feeling etc.
The thing is as well...the less you take - the more benefits you can actually get from it I find. It even says in the patient information leaflet something about at higher dosages there is less bioavailablity of the actual drug in the body.
If I really need to sleep then i'll take up to 900mg in oneday. Some days if i need abit more of a clear head..i'll take just 300mg. On average 600mg does me fine.
If your taking it just by itself though for bipolar (I did for a couple of weeks) the chances are it won't be effective to control the illness. On the other hand - if you do like the stuff (i love it) it can work brillant along side a more proven mood stabiliser...
Kind regards
Nick
