Yes, oxycontin is the SR form of oxycodone- i remember the dr saying that.
What you said is exactly right- how it feels when you take it. Morphine lasts longer.
i don't think the 200mg morphine and 180mg oxycontin was equivilent. Generally the oxycontin worked better to take away pain.Oxycontin worked so much better- i literally had no pain once if i was careful about the time but you're right about wearing off. i was in so much pain though every morning that i had to have it at my bedside to take with breakthrough first thing and wait in bed until it worked. It also had a bad side effect of making the muscles in my face and eyes feel tense or something like that- can't explain. Maybe because of the high dose- it was 60mg three times a day. Morphine doesn't have that effect- it works gentler but kept me in some degree of pain.
Nothing is so bad as being in terrible pain, though. Anything is worth getting out of pain if it's bad- i don't care about side effects.
