I finally was prescribed nortriptyline to try for fibromyalgia pain; amitriptyline was way too sedating for me at even low doses. I feel a slight improvement in pain at 20mg, but am unwilling to go higher as I needed to start on Klonopin for panic attacks induced by a trial of Topamax (horrible stuff). Klonopin 1.5mg -2 mg helps in stopping the symptoms of panic, but it is definitely depressogenic in me and I'm feeling extremely tired, especially in the afternoons. I've almost fallen asleep at the wheel picking my daughter up from school.
I've only been on nortriptyline for one week as well as the increased dose of Klonopin. Will the fatigue decrease with time? And how long do you think I'll need to stay on the Klonopin to bring the panic attacks under control? I never had panic attacks prior to using Topamax (I also had every other side effect listed in the brochure also).
Also, I had to DC trazodone (which I had been on for years for sleep) when I started on the nortrip/Klonopin as I felt very sick on trazodone 75mg/Klonopin 0.25mg combo.
I'm afraid that I'll start waking up again at 2 in the morning. Would increasing the nortriptyline help if this happens, or would increasing the Klonopin (I take it only at night) be better?
Thank you for any insights.
