In the US Cephalon hold a patent for Modafinil and their exclusive rights end in December this year. There are now *five* drug companies with plans to distribute a generic Modafinil so there is clearly a market. Cephalon's stock prices are depressed due to this.
If you hold a valid prescription in the US then you can legally purchase upto 90 day supply of *most* drugs from foreign drug stores. Modafinil, however is a Schedule 4 controlled substance and so importation is prohibited.
I don't understand how the Canadian pharmacies ar elegally selling modafinil (Alertec) to US residents. If Provigil is schedule 4 does this mean that Alertec ( same ingredient) is also schedule 4?
Cephalon have filed with the FDA to release a single isomer version of modafinil called Nuvigil.
