Serotonergic stimulation of the 5-ht2a/c receptors decreases dopamineric release in the frontal cortex.
I believe a drug like ritanserin would prove to be very usefull in the treatemtn of SSRI induced apathy.
Based on the actions of the MAOI, this effect may be experienced less frequently. MAO-B inhibitors seem to be very active cognative modulating agents. They seem to be effective in the treatment of ADD.Linkadge
