Was started on Wellbutrin XL, 300mgs, for depression and a sudden rage problem I'd developed. (I wanted to break things or take my car and hit other cars. Didn't. Went to doctor instead and told him I was losing my mind.) After two days on the XL, I felt like a person again. I actually caught myself laughing at (funny) things -- and I haven't laughed in a long time. I was feeling quite good, except for the migraine-headache side effect. Too dizzy. Can't work on the computer (my job!) read, drive, or watch TV. By the end of the third day, I said 'f*ck this' and asked for the generic version and a lower dose. I am sensitive to medication and I have had to request certain drugs from specific labs, so going generic on the Wellbutrin seemed like the right thing to do. Maybe I was reacting to a specific ingredient. Well, we started me at 100mgs. Nothing. I'm now at 200mgs. Nothing. Oh yeah, except for the fact that my husband walked out on me tonight because 'there is no making me happy' and I am always pissed off. Tomorrow, I will ask my doctor to put me back on the real stuff and I will start with the lowest dose, the 150. Damn... those vivid dreams. I haven't slept well in years and just once I would like to get a few solid nights of restful sleep. So here's my question.. should I do the SR or the XL? My pharmacist said I amy also be reacting or sensitive to the release-action of the XL, but I am reading about dizziness and headaches (like a serious sinus infection) from people on both kinds. What ius the chemical difference?
