No worries, GPs in the UK are notorious for being completely clueless. All mine have! I wasn't sure about the recommendation either.
If your rash started once you began the Wellbutrin then you are allergic to it. He probably wants to see if it was the Wellbutrin.
Yes, this is what the doc wanted to do. Although it started up after about 2-3 weeks, and itching and rashes are listed in the common side effects.
I say let him play guinea pig on someone else. I bet your chemist wouldn't advise you to try it again. Your reaction could be worse the next time you try the Wellbutrin.
Actually, I saw the chemist, and she hadn't seen this effect in any of her patients. But then again, in the UK its only prescribed as a smoking cessation aid. She recommended some anti-itching cream and er, thats about it.
> Anyhow, that is my two cents. I hope it goes away soon. Try having a bath with baking soda in it. That should help. :-)I've stopped it now. I don't know whether I'll start up again. Thing is, I actually like this med, and it really helps me concentrate, something I just can't seem to do otherwise.
The Doc actually suggested I try St John's wort....I might try this, although I think that its time I got myself a private pdoc. Or at least a referal to a NHS pdoc, although, again, I have heard that these are useless.
