In reply to Trileptal too much too quick!!, posted by snapper on October 9, 2005, at 22:01:31
The side effects would be more pronounced would be the biggest effect but I think you know that. The main side effect that everyone seems to complain about with Trileptal (myself included) is the the nausea. That would get really bad. The second would be your coordination. Trileptal can make you dizzy and really make coordination difficult.
I don't think your system has been harm or anything like that just a little shocked. A lot of people take really high dosages of that stuff so I don't think you would go toxic on it.
I would go back to your original dosage and then after a week increase it to what the increase should have been.
You are lucky you finally noticed it. I think this happens to many people and they don't know. We aren't exactly always in a state to know these things. Now I always check the dosage on the bottle and the pill and I look up the pill on the internet and make sure I am taking the right thing. This is because I was once prescribed lamictal and was given Surmontil (a tricyclic). I only figured it out after 3 weeks and I had already started to get really sick from it. It was contraindicated with my AD!
Sometimes a little paranoia is a good thing. :-)
I hope things start to return to normal for you soon. Take care of yourself.

> hey everyone, just a quick question on this mood stabilizer... if I went from 300mg am & 600mg pm ---per day... to ...accidentally 1200mg am to 1200mg pm ..what kind of effects.. side'effects and other would I notice. Any and all input is welcome and much appreciated... I just now discovered that I may have been overly medicating my poor ole' brain into severe confusion, dizziness (more than usual) bad racing thoughts, high iritabillity, very agitated ( more than usual) and pissed off , mean and a host of other mental, and physiological side effects.. I think I just solved part of my own problem .. I was told by Pdoc to go from previous schedule ..300mg am and 600pm. to 600mg am and 600mg pm. I did'nt even think to look at script and just now realized that the pills are 600mg and look identical to the 300mg pills and was just popping them down like "a Pro" lol !! and now realize that I have been ingesting around 31/2 times the stuff as I should have been!! Caveat Emptor!! (buyer be ware) Weather we think we know our pills or not, I still beleive it is important on both the prescribing pdocs as well as the pharmacists responsibility.,. to say something to us. I know it is important to read our script bottles but when out brains our 'goofy' I think we don't have the best judgement.... Anyhow thanks for reading &
