I'd be interested in hearing some discussion about this. In my usual depressed state, music has very littel effect on me, sometimes I find it even sterile and annoying. In remission, I feel immersed in the music, comnnected to it, and able to hear the intricacies and feel the energy and beauty.
I've been playing the guitar for years despite a depression which usually stamps out all interest and ability. I honestly go from a tone-deaf, mediocre 2 while depressed to a gifted 8 or 9 in remission. The difference is astonishing. Of course remission + pot can put me at a 10 from time to time. I go from an untalented hobbyist while depressed to a true musician in remission, and I believe this to be the objective truth, not a skewed perception. It is one of the most miraculous and unfathomable experiences to go from playing cliched trash to wielding total improvisational freedom and control of the instrument. Just thought I'd share that...
