What Do You Feel Like On A Dopamine Agonist?

Posted by TomG on October 30, 2005, at 17:07:42

I did so well on just 20mgs of Geodon for two months and it seemed to poop out on me. Raising the dose didn't help. I had this profound clearing of the mind and also it had a very profound calming effect on my thoughts.

I attribute my response to Geodon being a potent 5HT2A antagonist which increases dopamine release in the cortex.

My main symptoms are anergia, flat emotions, loss of focus, social withdrawal, apathy, anhedonia, and insomnia. My doctor thinks I have a form of schizophrenia know as simple schizophrenia where I have all the negative symptoms and none of the positive like delusions and voices etc.

My question is for people who have taken dopamine agonists off-label for psychiatric symptoms. How did you feel on the drug you were taking? What symptoms did they seem to clear up for you?

Thanks,
Tom
