Xanax helped me sleep b/c it relaxed whatever anxiety was keeping me from falling asleep. It's definitely short acting, which I didn't mind. I don't care about waking up. I can always get back to sleep. It's that first-going-to-bed thing. For weeks now, I simply cannot fall asleep initially, no matter how tired I am. Doesn't matter if I go to bed hungry, full, calm, without aches and pains, etc.Overall, Ambien works better. I have yet to take like 20 min. before going to sleep. I always toss and turn for a while, then take it. It's silly, but I'm an optimist. Tonite, tho, I'll pop it before I hit the sheets.
So, it's less addicting than Xanax. But....can I take it over the long term? I don't see my initial insomnia going away anytime soon.
