I'll be leaving for a little vacation in a few days and be back in two weeks. I'm meeting my parents in Aruba. I'm not sure what the Internet situation is like down there.
In the meantime, things have become more difficult for me regarding my acquiring mifepristone. The FDA still insists that my doctor provide an IRB (institutional review board) to oversee an open-label trial of a single patient. An IRB would probably charge me $1500 or so and involve quite a bit of paperwork. The medication would cost me over $300. At the moment, I really don't have the energy to pursue it any further. Hopefully, I'll have a few good days when I get back to see if I can make mifepristone happen. From what I understand, only three patients have undergone mifepristone treatment for mood disorders using their private practicioners on an open-label basis.
Does anyone know the results of the NIMH study of mifepristone to treat bipolar depression? It is probably still ongoing.
