In reply to Doxepin or Elavil for sleep? Comparisons?, posted by blueberry on November 12, 2005, at 15:19:43
Doxepin 25mg works great for me and I have no residual drowsiness the next day. I tried trazodone - yuk! I felt like I had a major hangover the next day. Remeron put me out like a light but didn't keep me asleep all night. I've never tried Zyprexa or Seroquel, and my doc won't prescribe Ambien. She thought a low dose anti-anxiety TCA was the best thing for me since tolerance is not an issue.
Good luck!

> I'm on the hunt for a good sleep med I can take long term. Forget zyprexa...no longer sedating...seroquel doesn't get me through the whole night...trazadone and remeron totally stink...xanax I like sometimes but don't want it every night...ambien and company not that great.

> Current meds are 7.5mg lexapro and weaning off of 2.5mg zyprexa, possibly trying wellbutrin soon. Since I usually respond to low doses, maybe even just a bit of elavil or doxepin might help my depressive symptoms.
