I'm 47 and my readings haven't been as high as the ones you mention, but still enough for my GP to be concerned enough about it that she started talking about switching my meds during my last exam with her.
My fantasy is to find an alternative to WB, is an effective antidepressant that:
1. Doesn't contribute to or exacerbate hypertension;
2. Doesn't cause weight gain; and
3. Doesn't cause sexual dysfunction.
For obvious health and quality-of-life reasons, each of these traits is important to me.
Meanwhile, my BP has dropped back to normal just as inexplicably as it rose. However, I'm also thinking that perhaps a change in AD meds would be a good thing for me; not just for internal/physical reasons, but for my mood. I've been irritable and mildly to moderately depressed, up and down, for some time. When I saw my doctor the other day, I rated my depression as "3" on a 10-point scale with 10 as worst. At other times, days apart, I'd rate it at 6 or more. I don't have radical mood swings, but I don't feel as stable as I'd like. Wellbutrin is definitely helpful, compared to what life was like before, but I'm wondering if something else might not be better. So I'm still looking around in preparation for a discussion either with my GP who regularly prescribes for me or consulting with a shrink whose opinion my GP will accept as expert.
I'm thinking that if I go in with a sense of what what meds I definitely don't want, as well as some that I'd be open to trying, I'll be better off than simply placing myself in someone else's hands.
It's not an emergency. I'm not suicidal. I'm not in the hospital, or even on the verge. I'm just looking, or hoping, for something better.
Thanks to all who have replied in this thread. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

> That is really interesting that you say that. I just recently noticed that my BP has been pretty high since starting Wellbutrin. I've always been no higher than 120/80 (except when someone wants to stick a needle in me!), but now since starting Wellbutrin I have been around 150/110 consistantly. Way too high in my book for some one in their 20's! It wasn't until this last week that I started putting two and two together and concluding it must be the Wellbutrin. Nice to know someone else is experiencing the same thing.
