At my hospital, you could smoke outside only...I was on the "craziest" ward, so we had about 10 cigarette breaks daily, from 7am to 10.30 pm. We had a coffee machine, too, in the common room, and there were soda machines outside and coffee, tea (this is the south), and sodas available during meal times in the cafeteria. Cigarette breaks were the worst...sometimes, we'd get this young girl who would try to make us go back in early....can you imagine the ANGER she riled up in 10 nicotine-addicted, chainsmoking bipolars and severe depressives? It wasn't pretty.
