OK, good news for people who drink coffee (this would be most people), especially people with mental "issues," since we tend to drink considerably more coffee than the average person. Coffee isn't so bad. It might even be...(gasp) good for you!
Apparently, coffee can prevent Parkison's. It can also reduce the risk of Diabetes type II, and it seems to reduce the risk of cirrohsis of the liver in people with risk factors (heavy alcohol drinking...I imagine it might help those of us on liver-killing meds, but who knows). Plus, there's apparently a reduced risk of suicide in people who drink coffee. The downside is that apparently boiled coffee has stuff in it that can boost the heart attack risk...apparently, filtering the coffee, as is standard in the US, eliminates this risk. yay!!!
I'm too lazy to site all the stuff I've seen on this...google "health benefits of coffee" and you'll see some interesting sites/news articles.
