The whole point of psychiatric meds is to make your life livable. If you start feeling zoned out, let your doctor know immediately. If you can't perform in school, then the drug isn't helping, but impairing. There are lots of variables, such as schedules, etc. that go into making the right meds work for a person.
I'm on a couple of meds right now, and I'm able to do really well in school. It's all about working with your doctor, having clear goals in mind, and keeping informed. I think you'll do fine. Just let your doctor know about school. It would be awful to take a med that makes you drowsy before attending class in a crowded lecture hall. Keep your doctor well informed, before he prescribes, and after, just in case the dosage needs to be tweaked.
I'm sure you'll do just fine.
