Cholesterol Levels and Psychiatry

Posted by PsychoPharmaFiender on February 4, 2006, at 11:40:21

I was just wondering if anyone has had their cholesterol levels checked, and if after their depression/anxiety/etc.. symptoms improved from meds their cholesterol levels improved when re-tested. Specifically, I was wondering about Total Cholesterol, HDL and LDL. Im having a comprehensive lipoprotein analysis on monday which will measure: total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, VLDL, Lipoprotein(a), and triglycerides, LDL particle size, HDL subfractions (HDL2-C and HDL3-C), and Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) subfractions (VLDL 1+2, VLDL3, and Intermediate Density Lipoprotein.

The relationship between Cholesterol and Psychiatry has been discussed for a while. And Heart disease, depression and cholesterol levels show positive correlations. My Doc thought it was a good idea seeing how Ive never had cholesterol checked. Anyone have any input?
