Just to make it clear, maois as everyone knows are quite hard to get here in the U.S.
Deprenyl is indeed a maoi, but for parkinson.
So just as rare as it is to get a maoi script,it would be MUCH more difficult to get a maoi OFFLABEL .
For a patient in the U.S to have used deprenyl already for depression more likly means they have a great docter who actualy knows his/her stuff and was creative and bold enough to use this medication.OR it means a person used it from mail order, which means the dose, the source, etc are all under question.
Last going back to the fir comment, yess there might be a doc who used deprenly here in the US for depression, but it has to be a small hand ful, first you have the fact deprenyl is a maoi, which doesent make it jump out as an option, second you have the fact that there is hardly any info on its use in depression and emotional disorders, deprenyl in the U.S is in a whole different world, most docs dont even think this drug up,some dont even know it.So there is no way we can know too much about deprenyl for depression here in the states,we ave to wait and see how this patch works,it is not common to sit in a psyc docs chair and mention deprenyl, you will mostly get a blank stare.
I off course exclude a lot of docters who played a role in emsam in any way shape or form, obviously.
