Yeah, I have had that low dose activation on .25mg xanax. I was motivated, interested, and totally comfortable and relaxed. It was the ultimate antidepressant antianxiety effect. But at .5mg it was more sedating and dulling and I lost the motivation and interest, just wanted to lie around and do nothing.

If somehow I could know ahead of time that .25mg would keep working like that indefinitely, I would go for it. But I've never done it for longer than a week. I'm afraid that at about 2 weeks or so tolerance would set in and all the good stuff would be gone. I'm afraid to find out. Even after just one single dose, or after a week of using it, I experience a pretty bad depression weaning off of it. Scary when something can be so good and so bad at the same time.

In studies with mice they did find that low doses of some benzos did have a paradoxical activating effect. How long that would last though is the big question.
