Hi Ed.
Thanks so much for your time. Phillipa tells me you are very much in demand these days!!

I am not refering to a particular med. It was just a general question. I have extreme difficulty with med combos. In the past, when I've been on ADs and have had to take anything else, even an antibiotic, I have to stop the AD's while I'm on the other meds. So, I was just wondering in a general sense for future reference. I'm pretty sure that the TCAs have a lot of potential interactions due to the fact that most of them affect multiple cytochromes. I've had so much difficulty that even meds that aren't documented to actually inhibit some cytochomes still cause severe interections, possibly because both meds might be substrates of the same enzymes and, therefore, compete with each other. Sheldon Preskorn says that we know only about 20% of what there is to learn about drug interactions and liver enzymes. I think that's probably an understatement. Often, I have had severe adverse reactions from med combos for which there was absolutely no documented contraindication.
