T4 turns into T3 and goes to all the organs in your body. My endocrinologist won't let me take T3 (cytomel) and perfers to use Synthroid (T4). But there are some people whose bodies don't convert the T4 properly so they have to be on Cytomel.

Since you are already experience some hypothyroid symptoms, you should probably get a blood test done.
