How long switch btw Parnate Emsam?

I have been on 40mg of Parnate for the last year and even though my mood has improved, I have not slept the night. I am going to be switching, but my psych wasn't sure how long I had to be off the Parnate before I could start the patch. I am deathly afraid of being off my meds, so if it two weeks or so, I don't think I want to make the switch. Any feed back? Thank you.
