It does bind to melanin, which exists in the eye, although an actual eye disorder after 1 week seems unlikely. Vision abnormalities do occur at significant levels above placebo, though at what dosage would be unclear as these were with concomittant usage of other AEDs in epilepsy studies.
Your clearance may be vastly different from the average clearance of the drug and you may in fact still have a small percentage in your system and are very sensitive to its visual effects.
I would give it, as uncomfortable as it is, another week or at least part of one, before continuing to follow up with your doctor which is of course paramount in what you are describing.
