Sleep/headaches/depression

Posted by janeB on August 28, 2006, at 17:08:08

Many articles say that early morning headaches can be indicative of depression. Is there some medical explanation for this? I have also been taught that keeping good sleep hygiene/habits is necessary for mood stability. So if I awaken at 3 a.m. without a headache (after 4-5 hrs. of sleep) what good is it to make myself go back to sleep only to awaken 2 hours later with a horrendous headache? This whole phenomenon does not make sense to me!
How should this problem be treated? Right now I take .25 mg clonazepam so that I can get to sleep. I have been taking it for 8 years.
Perhaps this has been discussed before. If so, sorry. Just an ongoing problem for me. Looking for explanations/solutions. Thanks, Jane
