Whew.. I've taken it up to 1200mg. I take it at 800mg currently for a non psychotic complex disorder, if that is any comparison of a high dose.I once accidentally mistook it for another medication and I had a social meeting with someone , I was on 1600mg basically of it, I felt like a dork but managed to get home.
Seroquel is the most sedating of all antipsychotics, including non atypicals. But I take it because it has the least EPS which I am sensitive to and the lowest risk of TD. I would never take neuroleptics but for this rare disorder I'm fighting.
But back to business.. yes, over time you get used to the fatigue, but from what I've learned, taking the Seroquel as early as possible in the late evening is better, like 45-60 minutes from when you actually want to go to sleep at least, which pushes the half life back so you're not as groggy in the morning. You'll still be somewhat groggy, though.I don't really like going to sleep on it but I have to take it at the moment -- its an odd sensation omce it starts working, you can't swallow very well, at least in my experience and you had better be in bed because it causes low blood pressure and one can feel faint.
I realize that's not a good outlook on the medication but besides Zyprexa its low on the totem pole of aggressiveness of neuroleptics except for Clozaril which one really doesn't want to go there unless absolutely necessary. Zyprexa would be a perfect drug for me if it didn't cause pseudoparkinsonism and didn't carry nearly the massive weight issue that Seroquel doesn't do as much.-- tidings
