Must be cause it's IV and it is delivered directly into the vein and bloodstream bipasses the stomach?
Correct, GI acid makes esp. morphine less effective.
Dose for dose morphine is stronger than oxycontin,
but less effective than oxycontin when taken by mouth. morphine effects breathing more than many
opioids.
