While I've never tried Zoloft, every other SSRI I've tried causes those symptoms (Celexa, Lexapro, Prozac, Effexor, Cymbalta). With me, the side effects never went away, but for many they do after a week or so.
For my daughter, Zoloft is far better than Celexa or Lexapro for her social anxiety symptoms. Lexapro caused way too many memory issues, despite the pdoc telling me it doesn't cause memory issues. Her start up flu-like symptoms went away after a week.
Good luck.

> I started Zoloft this week, with the start up pack, so I'm still at 25mg. So far, I've not been feeling at all well. I guess it could be described as "mild flu-like symptoms:" I've had a general malaise, some sleeplessness, headaches, and nausea. It's hard for me to vomit, but this time I'm coming very close. Today, I've been having those chills that sometimes wash over you when you're about to be sick, and I very nearly was sick. (I'm taking a quick break to ask this -- otherwise, I'm lying on the sofa with a bucket next to it. I know, TMI)
