A question for those using a stimulant to treat depression.
So I have a history of depression but the last eight months have been extreme. Tried Serzone, Cymbalta, Lexapro and now entering week three on Remeron and so far not impressed. The only thing that has helped is the stimulant Adderall. It does help considerably but I still get a rollercoaster of emotions and crashes, even with the extended release version. The side effects are tough too. I'm extremely sensetive to meds.
If Remeron fails, I'm considering Parnate. I've read that it's very effective for one, but that it may also have similarities in efficacy to a stimulant. I'm assuming this is becasue it also hits dopamine.
So I'm wondering if anyone currently using a stimulant for depression has tried Parnate before it or in place of it and found it to be similar, better, worse? I would welcome any input and meds to try that might have a similar action to a stimulant. I'm just hoping I can find something less volitile and harsh than a stimulant. I'm not concerned about the dietary restrictions of an MAOI. Thanks
