In reply to Parnate in the UK, posted by Tom Twilight on December 7, 2006, at 7:54:32
I've been prescribed Parnate a few times here in the UK. I'm supposed to be taking it now actually and keep getting repeat prescriptions, but I don't think it would do much good. The pdocs have been reluctant to prescribe MAOIs in general, but I think that's true the world over. I've been talking to a young guy in the US who is trying to get Parnate and he is being refused by his pdoc.
I find the maximum dose they are willing to prescribe (30mg) is far too low to be effective. Parnate only works for me at around the 80-120mg range, which UK pdocs consider abuse. At low doses it makes me feel more anxious and depressed, and tired.
What dose were you taking Tom, and are you still trying to find a way to get a pdoc to prescribe it?
