Dextroamphetamine in Alcohol, desire

Posted by kelv on December 22, 2006, at 21:55:17

When i had a small 'supply' of Dexamphetamine 5mg IR tabs recently, i found small, staggered daily doses~20mg daily, decreased my desire for Alcohol.

In the 1960's indications for the use of "Dexedrine" were:

-Alcoholism
-Depression
-Overweight states
-----Up to 30mgs daily-------
-Narcolepsy
-----Up to 60mgs daily--------

Alas my 'supply' has gone.

Has anyone found Dex to provide similar effects?

It CLEARLY was effective in lowered mood/motivation states:

"5-15mgs Dextroamphetamine banishes fatigue and lifts the spirits of the depressed, it was also found usefull in OCD states"-Hogshire

This i found also, it somehow derailed the repetitive, reoccuring thoughts i sometimes have, hell, 5mgs would put me into a nice nap sometimes, Methylphenidate had no effect on this symptom~30mgs Dex Daily-MEDLINE,Dextroamphetamine Vs Methylphenidate in OCD type states.
