Hi thx for your very welcome input.
Someone else was saying that Zyprexa isn't covered under the BC coverage or something, & doctors need permission to use it.
I have 'heard' all that you're saying. I think the 'tack' to take is to deal with it with our family doctor when my son comes back to Ontario.
I spoke with his doc out there today. I'm 'pasting' an email I sent to someone else (don't feel like retyping it). Here's the update:
Right now, the good news is that my son is saying he doesn't want to do ANY drugs any more - even weed.
The doctors are really saying "HEY - your brain is telling you in no uncertain terms that it can't handle drugs" I think that (now anyway) he's getting it!
He has told me AND his GF that he doesn't want to do any drugs, including weed.
THIS from, as his friend used to call him, "thuh doctah" or Dr. Lloyd He was a total druggie. The 'whole' lifestyle... Oh dear.Good news is that they upped the risperdone (or whatever it is) & he's WAYYYYYY better - even took a few 'alone walks' around other parts of the hospital. Day before yesterday he had them lock him in the quiet room so nobody could hurt him (or kill him)!
I guess, if the risperedone is working now, & it's a short term thing to get him flipped out of the psychosis, that maybe is OK.
I'll certainly talk with my family doctor - I see him tomorrow.
Also - my son didn't phone me today - that's usually a good thing!!!!! :-)
thank you so much. I'm keeping all this information so I can share it with my doctor when my son comes back.
many hugs to you all, luv, Kath
