I have taken Wellbutrin XL brand name for several years. With it, I had no symptoms of depression or medication side effects. Two years ago and again last month, my insurance company switched my prescription to Budeprion XL. Both times, I had a return of depressed mood, flat affect (which is not much facial expression), and feelings of impending doom. I also had sudden startle reactions inside my body, even though I didn't have any startling thoughts or surprising events.
After 1 month of the Budeprion, I will see my doctor tomorrow for an authorization to return to Wellbutrin XL brand name.
It's not "all in your head." In some cases there are differences in brand names, generics, and different companies. I've taken a generic medication for high blood pressure for many years and it works great.
In addition, I have been a therapist (mental health)in practice for 15 years, so I feel confident in what I plan to report to my doctor tomorrow. Maybe this could help others to do the same.
