why does low-dose amisulpride increase prolactin?

Posted by iforgotmypassword on February 19, 2007, at 10:31:42

can a drug increase prolactin by antagonizing dopamine AUTO-receptors alone?

and how did it cause dystonia in another poster here at low dose?

could it be that low dose amisulpride has enough antagonism to saturate ventral tegmental area (VTA) post-synaptic dopamine receptors?

VTA problems seem linked to bruxism and akathisia, and crucial pleasure/reward motivational effects in the brain:

(SSRI bruxism & VTA) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=pubmed&cmd=Retrieve&dopt=AbstractPlus&list_uids=16802163&query_hl=1&itool=pubmed_docsum

(SSRI akathisia & VTA) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=pubmed&cmd=Retrieve&dopt=AbstractPlus&list_uids=9744293&query_hl=5&itool=pubmed_docsum

the VTA seems mentioned in parkinson's a lot as opposed to TD, which may link this form of permanent effect to a different mechanism than TD, and explain the different effects than TD, and explain my complaints of apathy.

so if my permanent bruxism and akathisia is tied to this area, i am basically screwed?

are my dopaminergic neurons there just dead and that's final? or are the neurons just "polarized" wrong or something?

i should add that doing ANYTHING in a day is like voodoo in my head and the amount of internal negotiation, coaxing and just plain chance that it takes to get things done is how i haven't worked for five years. seen many friends. finished high school (i am 22.)

i should also mention that apathy and honest non-automatic expression of emotions is a huge problem. i can laugh uncontrollably over something i don't think is funny, nervously talk your ear off even though i don't know if i like you (i am clingy by reflex,) but not be able to tell you my likes and dislikes, make any decision, or live at all, do anything i "like".

this is where i stand. ugh. do ANY doctors on the planet focus on this?! they are all shutting me out. i don't know what i am expected to do. just rot and die?
