I go to sports bars and places like Ruby Tuesdays's and Friday's. Would I be safe ordering a hamburger without cheese? I don't know wether they use soy sauce in their mix. How about a steak. Almost all foods have some sauce or whatever on top. What about salad drssing? Any safe ones? How do any of you on an maoi deal with eating out?I took Parnate for most of the past 19 years. For about 3 years, when I was living alone, I ate out 3-4 times per week, including places like Fridays and Ruby Tuesday. I never had any problems. Cheeseburgers are fine with American cheese. I also had many kinds of aged cheeses over the years, but in small quantities.
If you have any problems, it will most likely be because of eating something containing tyramine in a large quantity or as an ingredient in a sauce. The only reaction I ever had was not in a restaurant when my wife cooked something with a sauce made from canned cheddar cheese soup. That was about 14 years ago.
I think you'll find the dietary restrictions surprisingly easy to live with.
