HELP WITH WITHDRAWAL FROM LONG TERM NARDIL

Posted by Dr Undies on March 1, 2007, at 1:45:01

Hi... Does anybody have any experience withdrawing from long term Nardil use? I have been on 45 mg per day for just over 15 years. I've had several unsuccessful attempts to get off Nardil in this time. The withdrawal effects begin a few days following a dose reduction and can become quite severe.

The most recent attempt was in 2001, where I was able to reduce the dose by 7.5 mg every several weeks. The symptoms that make me get back onto the drug are; intense head pain, dizziness and general un-wellness (for want of a better description) I managed to taper off the drugs over about 5 months and YET, still the damn withdrawal symptoms became too much too bear.

I felt like I had failed by returning to the Nardil which made me feel "normal" 20 minutes after taking that 1st dose again.

With this experience fresh in my mind, it is with a great deal of fear that I'm attempting to get off Nardil once & for all.

Has anyone out there in PB land have any had any success getting off this very powerful drug. I would appreciate any feed-back. Thanx.

Andy
