as antidepressants in bipolar go, wellbutrin is usually a pretty good call. There are side effects, which can be very bad (its very stimulant-ish), but it also seems to be pretty good in terms of switching--if you can tolerate it, its less likely to cause mania, akathisia, or accelerated cycling than the TCA drugs or the SSRI drugs.
