I've been on several different kinds of antidepressants from 2002 to 2006.
Here are what I experienced for each medication:
Paxil: Gave me the most sedating effect of all the antidepressants I've tried but it sometimes made me hyperactive also very lazy. It was almost impossible to take in the morning because of sedation.
Celexa and Lexapro: These were too activating. It sometimes made me extremely hyperactive. I felt like zombie while I was on high dosage of Celexa. 3 years after trying Celexa, I was put on Lexapro and it was as bad as Celexa. They rather made my anxiety worse.
Effexr XR: It made me agitated too much that I had to stop taking the med.
Now, one year after antidepressant-free, I'd like to try a new one. Even though they all mainly affect serotonin, it seems like they all have very different effects for me. What I'm thinking next is Zoloft. How close is its effect to the medications I've tried above? My main concern is anxiety and over-breathing symptoms. Depression is only second concern since it's from the anxiety.
