Actually, that's probably a sign that it's working about optimally. Antidepressants are supposed to bring you back to the normal range of mood -- which includes some bad times.

What led me to discontinue Paxil many years ago was a friend's son's suicide. It was devastating, as you can imagine, and I felt terrible -- but I couldn't access my actual emotions about it. All I could do was drift along, without crying, without really grieving. THAT is not what successful antidepressant treatment is supposed to do. What it's supposed to do is make it possible to cry, to grieve, *without* falling into a black pit.

So, if you're having mostly good days, and you're not falling into the abyss, you're probably on a pretty good treatment.
