This is the newest smoking cessation medication. It's not like Zyban (Wellbutrin). It targets the nicotic receptors in the brain, which release dopamine when stimulated.
There seems to be a lot success with its use for quitting smoking. Now there are speculations that it would be useful for alcoholics, and possibly with other addictions and psych disorders.
When I first heard of this drug, I thought about it's potentials uses, in a backward sort of fashion based on Zyban, since it's used as an antidepressant.
I've always thought it could be used as an activating antidepressant and for ADHD. Any thoughts or experiences on this?
If anyone has a pdoc who likes to talk meds, and wouldn't mind asking this question, I'd love to hear a professional's opinion!
I'll try to ask mine whenever I see him again, although I don't know when that would be... plus we have reallly limited time, so it would be a poor use of his attention with my real concerns.
